Erika's Annex Page 499 - Semi-Public or Private?

Did moi mention that the hotel for the coronation was close to an airport? Moi believes moi did, but, if not, see right for an indication of how close. Scary, no? Anyway, just like pageants, some of the most interesting action at coronations occurs backstage, as the girls prepare to present themselves, then prepare to present themselves again, in a new evening gown (see Tuesday on previous page for an example thereof). Moi checked out the action and recorded it for posterity (no, that is not a clever way of saying "butt" - that would be posterior). Drag your mind from the gutter - there's a time and place for that sort of thinking, usually at the end of the page and moi assures you that you won't be disappointed in that regard this time either.

There are two types of backstage - the private hotel room and thesemi-public communal changing room

1. The private hotel room. Advantages: private, able to cope with wardrobe malfunctions with minimum fuss. Empress often on hand to deal with aforementioned w.m.'s. Disadvantages: miles from the ballroom, requiring endless walks down corridors in heels

2. The semi-public, communal changing room. Advantages: Ballroom-adjacent, inspires camaraderie and Tgirl bonding. Disadvantages: Not private, can inspire T girl catfights (not that moi would ever record them)

So. Which is preferable? Private and distant or semi-public and close? You must decide, but consider the following
